What is a IPL Photo Rejuvenation?

Getting ready for a special event and want a youthful complexion? Or, are you looking for a non-invasive way to maintain your youthful appearance? It can be hard to achieve blemish-free skin even with the most meticulous skincare regimen. A Photo Rejuvenation treatment may be right for you if you want to improve your skin’s appearance without surgery. This minimally invasive skin procedure requires little recovery time and has few side effects, making it a popular skin treatment.

Often called a Photo Facial, Photo Rejuvenation uses high-intensity pulses of broadband light to treat skin discoloration and photoaging at the cellular level. What does that mean? This technology uses a light beam to heat the collagen under the skin and stimulate collagen production. With Photo Rejuvenation, you can reduce the appearance of some of the most common skin concerns, such as brown spots, melasma, broken capillaries, sun damage, wrinkles, and age spots.

A Photo Facial, also known as IPL therapy or intense pulsed light, can reduce the appearance of damage to the skin and subtract years from your appearance. This cutting-edge treatment produces younger-looking skin that is firmer and more even in tone and texture. IPL offers a safe, FDA-cleared solution for sun damage, anti-aging, and skin rejuvenation with little recovery time and no surgery. Photo Facial works wonders with other treatments. We can help you decide which ones are right for you.

How does it work?

Our skin can get dull and wrinkled from the sun, harsh cleansers, pollution, and aging. You don’t have to live with these skin issues. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) can help. IPL Photo Facial can deal with everything from age spots to sun damage. During your consultation, one of our providers will examine your face, neck, chest, and hands for sun damage, vascular issues, and pigment irregularities that may benefit from IPL.

Please stay out of the sunlight before getting the treatment done. Treatments usually take 30-60 minutes. The Photo Facial treatment targets brown and red spots on your skin by focusing a beam of light on the surface. Moreover, the treatment stimulates collagen production by heating the lower layer of your skin (the dermis). In response, collagen and blood vessels contract, resulting in smoother, healthier-looking skin. Acne can also be treated with Photo Facial treatments. With specific bursts of light, they can target and kill acne-causing bacteria. In addition, Photo Facial treatments can reduce the appearance of pink or brown marks left after acne treatment.

After the treatment, your skin may appear slightly red and swollen. This is a normal reaction and will go away. Please avoid using scented lotions, exfoliants, and aggressive scrubbing for the next few days. In the first few weeks, freckles and sunspots usually get darker and flake off. If you feel sunburned after the treatment, apply a cool compress. In most cases, the desired results can be achieved within three treatments spaced one month apart.

The Photo Facial, also known as IPL, is a very gentle, non-invasive, and safe treatment. While everyone’s tolerance is different, there is usually no need for a topical anesthetic. It might feel like a sunburn after the treatment, but an ice pack should help.

Although the IPL Photo Facial targets melanin, it can be challenging for patients with tanned or naturally dark skin. Light therapies can cause skin lightening or hyperpigmentation when applied to darker skin. Patients with tanned skin, dark skin, or melasma should consider having a chemical peel or discussing other treatment options at LifeHope Healing Med Spa.

We usually treat the face, chest, and back of the hands. These are the areas most susceptible to the damaging effects of sunlight. However, it can be performed anywhere on the body.
