Platelet Rich Plasma

PRP is known for many beauty benefits, including regrowing thinning hair, rejuvenating the skin, and improving skin texture.

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?

Platelet rich plasma is a type of treatment that uses the body’s natural healing process to rejuvenate skin cells and cellular growth. A concentrated plasma form has been shown to accelerate tissue repair and wound healing and can also be beneficial to skin rejuvenation in cosmetic treatments. Regenerative medicine is making significant strides in improving the quality of life for many people with various conditions.

Platelets are blood cells that play a critical role in blood clotting. A cascade of events occurs when tissue is damaged, which triggers platelets to rush to the area and stop bleeding; this begins the wound-healing process. Over 30 growth factors and other biologically active proteins released by platelets can cause new blood vessel formation and tissue growth.

The wide range of therapeutic benefits reported with PRP is likely due to the “cocktail” of natural growth factors. A small sample of blood is centrifuged to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the other components in order to prepare platelet-rich plasma. A high concentration of platelets, sometimes with white blood cells (leukocytes), is left in the liquid part of the blood (plasma). After red blood cells are removed, that solution is injected or applied topically onto the target area.

How does it work?

Platelet-rich plasma is the product of a blood sample that has been run through a centrifuge to isolate the platelets and growth factors. We will numb your skin with a topical numbing solution first, before beginning the process. We start by infusing Hyaluronic Acid into the skin to ensure that it is properly hydrated. Platelet-rich plasma is then reinjected and/or micro-needled back into the skin. You may feel some discomfort after the procedure. It will subside fairly quickly.

PRP can be used for the natural healing of chronic wounds, traumatic injuries, and wrinkles from aging skin. Recently, there has been growing interest in so-called “vampire facials.” These facials combine microneedling and topical PRP application to improve skin texture, color, and wrinkle depth. Microneedling and PRP have also been shown to treat atrophic acne scars and pigmentation disorders.

What are the benefits of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a non-surgical treatment that can dramatically improve your skin’s appearance. PRP injections contain stem cells, growth factors, platelets, and other components that initiate neocollagenesis, the process of forming new collagen. Inserting PRP serum under the skin can stimulate new collagen production, aiding in tissue regeneration and elasticity.

Plasma-rich therapy can completely reverse deep, years-old skin damage in one session. It can improve the skin’s overall appearance by stimulating collagen production and connective tissue regeneration. Post-treatments, the skin will be tighter, have a healthy elasticity, and be visibly lifted.

PRP therapy is used for all skin conditions, from minor cuts to major injuries and general sun damage, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and stretch marks. It has long-lasting natural healing properties and has zero risk of an allergic reaction. At LifeHope Healing Med Spa, we are here to help you reduce fine lines and wrinkles and restore your skin’s fullness, helping your skin stay smooth and healthy-looking all year long.

How much does Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) cost?

There are several factors that influence the price of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments, including the size of the treatment area and the number of sessions required to achieve your desired results. Additional treatments that may be paired with PRP may also affect the overall cost. PRP is often combined with other treatments at LifeHope Healing Med Spa to achieve the best results. Combining plasma-rich therapy with microneedling can dramatically improve your skin texture. During your consultation, we will tailor a custom program to address your specific skin concerns and determine the cost of your PRP treatment.

Common FAQs

Depending on the treatment area, a PRP treatment can take between 30 and 60 minutes. Additionally, you’ll need some time for numbing since numbing cream makes the treatment more comfortable.

Depending on the treatment area, a PRP treatment can take between 30 and 60 minutes. Additionally, you’ll need some time for numbing since numbing cream makes the treatment more comfortable.

PRP injections are typically painless, but you may feel mild discomfort while the PRP is injected. The sensation typically felt is a warming and tingling sensation. This feeling only lasts a few minutes after the PRP injection. Our team will ensure that our patients are comfortable for the duration of the PRP treatment, whether that’s providing numbing cream or ice to help ease any discomfort.

There is no downtime with PRP; however, you may experience redness after your treatment; this is normal and to be expected. Redness usually lasts up to 24 hours but will subside during this time period. You may also have swelling in some areas.

It’s possible to see an improvement after just one treatment, but it varies from person to person. Typically, 2-4 treatments are advised, but the number may increase based on the severity of the condition.

There is no doubt that PRP is safe for most people who use it for cosmetic procedures. There are very few contra-indications with PRP injections. The most common side effects of PRP injections are temporary mild to moderate swelling and redness.

Results from PRP injections can last for many years after treatment; however, these results vary due to individual variation in the quality of Platelet Rich Plasma, as well as their lifestyle.
